Editor's-in-chief 'from A to Z' |
Editor's-in-chief 'from A to Z' Strategic target of this edition is simple.
Theoretic and practical dispute experience gained during realization of 'Da-da-Net'
and 'TrashArt' projects, on problems of interaction of new modern cultural and
art technologies is rather impressive. It contains critics', culturologists',
art theorists', artists' as well as technological society representatives'
opinions and positions collected and wrapped under the 'Art of New Technologies'
title. My personal study of their contribution was interesting and instructive…
I hope deviation of this edition from traditional catalogue form is justified by
participation of many artists that exposed themselves as theorists in the
general discussion, their texts being an adornment of this collection. And let
me hope that the collected material will draw attention not only of those that
are traditionally engaged in media culture, art and technology. It might be
interesting to a wider circle of intellectuals due to the following reasons:
firstly, we get questions earlier than answers, and secondly, development of new
technologies is impetuous and demands higher level of cultural reflection.
Construction of this publication was initially determined by a quite reasonable
desire to create a united though not homogenous textual space. We very much
appreciate contribution of the people that have met our offer to take part in
this project, and of the editing team which took the burden of compiling and
editing, and spent much creative effort and fantasy to successfully beat the
target. The principal item which has determined our interest in this work is the
desire to fill the gaps of Russian experience and theory, moreover that here we
have only few editions covering the presented problems. Separation of effort and
experience is quite obvious. Being successors of the 'NewMediaLogia/NewMediaTopia'
edition, we'd also like and are eager to preserve and continue its traditions.
